The Adversities of Greatness – Why Destiny Always Has Stalkers

Overcoming the Adversities of Greatness

In the story of every great man or woman, there are chapters filled with denial, rejection, and pain. These are not signs of failure—they are proof of destiny in motion. One of the clearest indicators that you are marked for greatness is your ability to see preparation in every opposition.

If they hate and envy you, it is preparation.
If they gossip and spread rumours, it is preparation.
If they judge you wrongly, it is preparation.
If they deny you opportunities, it is preparation.
If they betray you, it is preparation.
If they fail to support or encourage you, it is preparation.
If they mock you, it is preparation.
If they reject you, it is preparation.
If they don’t show up for you, it is preparation.
If they fail to appreciate you, it is preparation.
If they forget about you, it is preparation.
And even if you fail, it is still preparation.

Greatness often demands sacrifice—sometimes voluntary, sometimes imposed. History is filled with examples: Jesus giving His life for humanity, Samson sacrificing himself for Israel, Joseph enduring betrayal to save nations, the apostles facing persecution to spread the Gospel, and national leaders who risked everything for the freedom of their people. These sacrifices are never wasted; they are investments into something bigger than the individual.

If people hate you, malign you, betray you, reject you, sabotage you, deny you, let you down, or gang up against you, it’s not always a sign of failure—it’s often evidence that you carry something great. Exceptional people face exceptional problems because their mission requires exceptional preparation.

The truth is, people will sometimes despise you simply because you don’t fit into their expectations. They will hate, ostracise, and speak against you because you are not what they think you should be or wish you were. Yet, dare to be different when the norm is wrong, for great men did not come to follow tradition but to break it. The truly great do not come to conform; they come to transform.

Lessons from the Path of the Great

I have read the stories of many remarkable individuals and the storms they endured before they broke through. For years, I thought I could avoid such hardships by living cautiously. But life proved me wrong. The difficulties came anyway, because the point of those stories wasn’t to shield me from trials but to prepare me for them.

There is no shortcut to greatness. Every storm, betrayal, and disappointment is a test of readiness. Sometimes, God allows us to walk through challenges not to break us but to strengthen us, to refine our character, and to ensure that when the blessing arrives, we can handle it without losing ourselves.

It’s easy to admire the success of others, but unless you understand the price they paid, you cannot truly desire their position. Greatness is not just about the reward—it is about surviving the preparation.

So, the next time you face rejection or betrayal, remember this: you are not being buried; you are being planted. And in time, you will rise—not just to succeed, but to inspire others who are still in their season of preparation for greatness.
